Band History

IGNEM started at an early stage with association of Pascal and Paul in Geneva (though the name would be found much later).
After sharing various experiences in Blues, Jazz and world music over the last 10 years it was decided to start a more personnal and ambitious project.
For that we seeked Florian's help (a touring musician and sound engineer) who shares a 25 years long friendship with Paul.

Given the musical direction we had to find a drummer whose vision and experience would fit the music style.
This is how Frederic (friend of Florian) joined the IGNEM family.
We started rehearsing at the end of 2002 in our "spare time" and throughout 2003.

      
                 
   
    « Meaning of IGNEM ?
(per) "Ignem" latin word meaning "by fire". Fire symbolizing (family and friends) gathering, progress and energy. »		   « Our music demands progress as musicians and in the technology we use (positive) energy is something we wish to communicate through this music. »   « The sentence "Dum Veneris Judicare Saeculum Per Ignem" means "You will come trial the world by fire" is an excerpt from Gabriel Faure's requiem. »  

« IGNEM music is resulting from the fusion of the music styles we all like. A key element of fusion is energy/fire. As a family is how we create music. »
